VERTU to launch more affordable products, as a new strategy to fight the international crisis
Perry Oosting, CEO of VERTU declared this week sales in 2009 are in line with expectations without giving specific information about volumes. He also estimated the luxury mobile phones world market at a value of EUR 3 billion. Vertu is a division of Nokia and manufactures luxury mobile phones with prices ranging from EUR 1.000 to EUR 45.000. The Vertu phones are hand made in its factory in the U.K. by using precious materials. The company CEO also announced that this month Vertu is lauching a cheaper line of accessories for those who cannot cannot afford a mobile phone. The new accessories line will include USB devices, headphones and pens. He could not confirm that Vertu will also launch a watch but he didn’t deny either.
