Top three winter holiday destinations for the wealthy Eastern Europeans

A survey conducted last month by CPP Luxury Industry Management Consultants Ltd, among travel agencies in Central and Eastern Europe (Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine), has revealed this year’s top destinations chosen by wealthy consumers for the winter holidays, including New Year’s eve.

The highest ranking destination of choice is Dubai, followed by Switzerland and Austria. The average duration of stay for the New Year’s Eve holiday is 4 nights, with a preference for five star hotels, valued between EUR 2.000 to EUR 3.500 including accommodation and flights (per person). Unlike previous years, most consumers have scaled back on travel expenses, for instance most of them opting for regular types of rooms and economy class for the flights. Another trend which has emerged this year is the fact that over half of the those taking a New Year’s Eve holiday also book a long shopping weekend in Milan and Paris, in the first two weeks of December.
