Top Armani Group executive quits

John Hooks the highest ranking executive within Giorgio Armani Group, will exit the company from next month. Considered by many industry insinders, Mr Armani’s right hand, Hooks has been with the group for 11 years, in September 2009, becoming Deputy Chairman and joining the Board of Directors with responsibility for global commercial strategy and markets and brands development.  He was also in charge with all foreign subsidiaries.

John Hooks’ departure comes as major negative blow to Mr Armani’s re-organization plan which he initiated early 2009. Mr Giorgio Armani, who turns 78 in July this year, has consistently denied any plans to sell his company or seek a strategic partner, despite the fact he does not have a direct family successor.

In an email yesterday, John Hooks said he had resigned from Giorgio Armani Group as he needed a break after 11 years and added he was considering several new projects.
