The existing building was constructed in the late 19th Century as the Hotel Majestic and enjoyed around 40 years as one of Paris’ most famous landmarks. It was then converted into a headquarters for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where it was used to host high profile events, including the conclusion of the peace treaty between the US and North Vietnam, signed by Henry Kissinger.
The new Peninsula Paris hotel will reinstate the building’s reputation as the leading hotel in Paris. Its 200 rooms will include 46 suites – amongst them a ‘Historic’ suite, complete with period decoration, three restaurants, scores of meeting rooms, and a spa and swimming pool.
