The hatmaker of the British Monarchy, Christy’s becomes Italian

Oxford based legendary luxury hatmaker Christy’s, founded in 1773, whose client include H.M. Queen, Winston Churchill, Mikhail Gorbachev and Brad Pitt, is now owned by Italian BlueGem investment fund, controlled by Andrea Agnelli, Giorgio Girondo, Mario Greco and other Wall Street bankers. The amount paid by BlueGem is estimated at 2 million puds.

CEO of BlueGem, Marco Capello is also the President of London iconic Department Store Liberty. BlueGem acquired Liberty one year ago and the company will close 2011 on profit. In an interview to Italian media, Capello said he intends to turn Liberty into an ”LVMH” with owned brands from different luxury fields.
