Sophia Loren signs her first autobiography

An icon of Italian style, award winning actress Sophia Loren has launched earlier this week her first autobiography, “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow: My Life” As Sophia said, this is a collection of “unpublished memories, curious anecdotes, tiny secrets told, all of which spring from a box found by chance, a precious treasure trove filled with emotions, experiences, adventures.”

One such episode is the infamous photo in which she is staring down at Jayne Mansfield’s neckline during a glamorous cocktail party at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 1957? Treading Sophia’s book the enigma behind that famous photo is finally unveiled: “Look at that picture. Where are my eyes? I’m staring at her nipples because I am afraid they are about to come onto my plate.”’ Sophia writes “In my face you can see the fear. I’m so frightened that everything in her dress is going to blow – BOOM! – and spill all over the table.’

Face to face with a gun-armed robbery in New York – in her memoirs, Sophia also writes about the scary episode of a gun-wielding jewellery thief in new York. “I was woken by strange noises that sounded like stifled screaming. Then two men barged into my room. One was the hotel’s concierge who had obviously been forced to open the door to my room against his will. The other man was holding something that looked like a stethoscope. ‘Oh, my God, my son’s not well,’ was my first thought. But, in fact, it was a gun. ‘This is a robbery,’ the man with the gun barked at me, like a thief in some third-rate detective movie.”
