Sir Nikolai Hotel opens in Hamburg

The Sir Hotels brand has launched its fourth property, the Sir Nikolai Hamburg, along the banks of the historic Nikolaifleet canal in the heart of the German city. Nestled between two red brick warehouses, a fixture of the Speichersradt and the city’s Old Town, the seven-story, 94-room Kontorhaus feature views of the canal and surrounding neighborhood.

Dutch studio FG Stijl oversaw the hotel’s design, working in collaboration with international art and culture project platform Circle Culture to curate the onsite art collection. The Study is a cozy lounge furnished with dark wood floor-to-ceiling shelving as well as an eclectic range of books and memorabilia. Equipped with an open, gray marble fireplace, the glass-roofed inner courtyard, the Patio, opens up to sunny skies during summer months and leads to the onsite Izakaya Asian Kitchen & Bar. The 120-seat Japanese-Peruvian restaurant is appointed with private velvet sofa corners as well as a communal table, 306-degree bar, and two balconies for al fresco dining.

Rooms include a mix of custom furniture, a jewel-toned palette, and decorative details the reflect of the city’s legacy. Ranging from the 226-square-foot Sir Boutique to the 334-square-foot Sir Supreme, rooms feature open, off-white marble bathrooms with walk-in showers or bathtubs in addition to queen or king beds, velvet upholstery, elegant wood desks, and a fully equipped bar cart. The nearly 400-square-foot Sir Suites are appointed with freestanding bathtubs, while the two-bedroom 614-square-foot Sir Residences house an extra sofa bed, freestanding tub, and two bathrooms.

A private dining venue and 3,230-square-foot spa with a gym, indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and treatment rooms will open during the second half of this year.
