Shangri-La to open in Istanbul on the Bosphorus, Spring 2013
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts’ first property in Turkey, Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul will be built in 13 storeys, six of which will be underground to protect the historic façade. The building will be the second-tallest on the coast after the Dolmabahce Palace. The hotel is developed in a joint venture between Shangri-La and Turkish based textile group Tanriverdi and will be operated by the Shangri-La. The appointed General Manager is Sinan Yilmaz, formerly General Manager at Shangri-La Manila.
The Shangri-La Bosphorus will feature 186 guest rooms with a minimum size of 42 sqm/453 sqft, with spacious bathrooms, which will average 10 sqm/108 sqft. In addition, there will be 17 suites offering approximately 80 sqm/860 sqft to 366 sqm/3,940 sqft of living and entertaining space, most located to offer the best views of the Bosphorus sea. The signature SPA will feature 8 spacious private treatment rooms, two hamams and an indoor swimming pool. For dining pleasure, the hotel will offer a specialty restaurant, IST TOO, serving Asian and Mediterranean delicacies and an authentic Chinese Cantonese restaurant, Shang Palace.
Other luxury hotels expected to open in Istanbul in 2013 are: the Raffles (180 keys), Viceroy (66 keys).
