Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London unveils ‘The Cultural Salon’ series of events

Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London, has launched the Cultural Salon, an exciting new experience for guests, visitors and local Londoners.

The Cultural Salon is an exciting year-long programme of events in the theme of East-meets-West arts. Month by month, artistic luminaries, such as designer Sir Paul Smith, novelist and ceramicist Edmund de Waal and accessory designer Beatrix Ong, will give talks within the elegant surroundings of Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London.

Inspired by the cultural salons of the 16th century in Italy and France, which were created by the intellectual elite to educate and entertain, Shangri-La’s Cultural Salon at The Shard will be both contemporary and cosmopolitan.

Every month, Champagne and canapés will be served before a key figure from the arts community talks with the attendees. Only a small number of tickets will be available for each event. All proceeds from the Cultural Salon events will go to support The Blackfriar’s Settlement, a local charity.

The September calendar includes London-based British designer Beatrix Ong, formerly Creative Director at Jimmy Choo. Sir David Tang (founder of luxury fashion label Shanghai Tang) is scheduled for 6 October and Lady Ravynn Coxen (Nginn Karet Foundation for Children in Cambodia) for 11 November.
