Rosewood Hotels debuts in South America with Brazil
In 2018, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will make its South American debut in Brazil with the opening of Rosewood São Paulo, under development by Groupe Allard president Alexandre Allard. Rosewood will be part of a mixed use complex The complex also under development by Allard and Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, designer and architect Philippe Starck, and Brazilian artists Beatriz Milhazes and Saint-Clair Cemin.
“Rosewood has been waiting for the right opportunity to enter South America, and I firmly believe this is it,” says Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group. “São Paulo is becoming one of the most dynamic cities of the 21st century, and Rosewood will transform this historic property with a contemporary Brazilian energy.”
The 151-room Rosewood São Paulo will also include 114 owners’ suites within a vertical park designed by Nouvel, two restaurants, a bar, and a caviar lounge. Guests will have access to a ground-level pool, a rooftop pool, a spa with six treatment rooms, a fitness center, 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space, a wedding chapel, and an adjoining music studio and screening room. The chapel’s original architecture will be preserved, however a new stained glass window has been commissioned.
As part of its global expansion, Rosewood entered the China market with the opening of Rosewood Beijing last October. An additional 13 new hotels, including Hôtel de Crillon in Paris, are in the pipeline, making the Hong Kong based group the fastest expanding internationally with outstanding properties in top destinations.
