ROLLS ROYCE bets on latest smaller model to survive crisis

Tom Purves, CEO of ROLLS ROYCE, a division of BMW Group since 1998, has recently expressed his optimism saying that the new model, the GHOST will sell 2000 units in comparison with 1000 units it sells of its flagship model, the PHANTOM. Mr Purves compares the 2 models, considering the Phantom a tuxedo and the Ghost a sports coat. His only major concern is the future, not in terms of manufacturing as Rolls produces on order and not for stocks. The issue which troubles him is that over 85% of those expressing at interest at the latest Shanghai Auto Show were new to Rolls. The new Ghost model will be available early 2010 and its price starts at EUR 200.000, in comparison with the Phantom model which starts at EUR 300.000.
