Qatar to spend up to $45bn on tourism, aiming for 7 million tourists
Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has announced that $45bn will be allocated to develop Qatar’s tourism industry by 2030 as part of the National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030. The strategy also aimed to increase the tourism sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP from less than one percent to more than three percent by 2030. Employment in the sector is also hoped to increase from 25,000 in 2012 to 127,000 by 2030.
The National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030 envisions positioning Qatar as ‘a world class hub with deep cultural roots’, further placing the country on the world tourism map and allowing people from around the world to recognize and appreciate what it has to offer via its unique culture and heritage.
