PENINSULA HOTELS eye expansion in India and announce details on Paris opening
Due to open mid 2013, Peninsula Hotel in Paris will be the Peninsula Hotels Group flagship in Europe. With 200 rooms and an overall Art Deco architecture, the hotel will be situated in the heart of Paris on Avenue Kleber, in the building formerly occupied by the Majestic Hotel.
The Hong Kong and Shanghaï Hotels Limited (HSH), the owner of Peninsula Hotels, will manage the Paris flagship hotel, the owner and developer of the Paris property being QATARI DIAR, Qatar’s leading real estate developer, with an 80% stake. The architecture of the Peninsula Hotel Paris has been assigned to French architect Gilles Martinet who was also in charge with Shangri-La’s Paris hotel which opened last year. Most of the staff, will be employed from next year (2012 being the initial estimated opening) will benefit from an extensive training program at the ”Peninsula Academy” at the company’s headquarters in Hong Kong, to ensure they will provide the ”savoir fair” excellence in service which the group is renowned for.
Speaking to French media this week, on Peninsula Hotels development, Ms Rainy Chan, Regional Vice President and General Manager of The Peninsula Hong Kong, confirmed Peninsula Hotels is closely looking at two properties in India, in the cities of New Delhi and Mumbai.
