Peninsula Hotels appoints ex Tiffany&Co as Director of Global Communications

Peninsula Hotels has recently made a surprise appointment of Carson Glover as its new Director of Global Communications reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, effective on 27 February 2017. Carson joins The Peninsula Hotels from Tiffany & Co., where he worked at the company’s headquarters in New York since 2008, most recently holding the position of Senior/Group Director, Global Public Relations and Communications.

Carson has developed a strong career record in public relations and communications, specialising in luxury retail. He has designed several brand partnership programmes and directed innovative marketing, communications and events initiatives that have positioned Tiffany as a highly coveted purveyor of bespoke luxury jewellery. This proven global expertise means he is well positioned to help further develop and promote The Peninsula brand in both its core and emerging markets.

Carson holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Macalester College, Saint Paul, Minnesota, with a major in Political Science and a minor in Art History. He began his career by working at marketing communications agencies in New York, and in 2003 joined J. Walter Thompson as Associate Director/Public Affairs for the Diamond Information Center, working on behalf of the Diamond Trading Company, the sales and marketing arm of De Beers. During his time there, he was appointed to the role of Spokesperson for the World Diamond Council.  He later joined Harry Winston, Inc., as Corporate Communications Director.

With Carson’s appointment, Peninsula Hotels, the global luxury hospitality institution aims to take a different approach to communications. In 2013, Hyatt Corp made the same attempt appointing Katherine Melchior-Ray, an ex Louis Vuitton executive to the position of Vice President Luxury Luxury Brands. Melchior-Ray exited Hyatt less than a year ago.
