Patek Philippe auction sale breaks nine world records

Christie’s Geneva recent auction dedicated to the 175th anniversary of iconic Swiss luxury watch-maker Patek Philippe raised $19.73 million, selling 98% of its 100 lots and setting nine world auction records. The top lot was a pink gold Reference 2499 First Series, which sold for $2,678,425, one of only four examples in pink gold for that reference known to the market.

With 69 lots selling above estimate, the sale had set a new benchmark for thematic sales and shows the amazing strength of the Patek Philippe market. All 125 seats in the sale room had been reserved 48 hours ahead of the auction and over 300 collectors and watch enthusiasts attended the event.
