New launches at 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show this September
Mercedes Benz will present at the upcoming 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show a brand new compact SUV. The new GLA will be offered in four models, with horsepower ranging from 136 (GLA 200 CDI 4MATIC) to 211 (GLA 250 4MATIC). With a maximum speed of 235 km/hour, the top performer consumes 7.1 liters of fuel per 100km, emitting the equivalent of 151 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
This new Mercedes GLA SUV will be the first equipped with the next-generation 4MATIC system, which ensures an even distribution of power to all four wheels. In terms of assisted driving, the Mercedes GLA offers an accident prevention assistance, which alerts drivers of potential collisions when rolling at speeds of 7km/h or higher, and automatically slows down the car when its speed exceeds 200km/h. The system also helps to prevent accidents when the car is in reverse.
Besides its new A3, Audi will unveil the A 700 HP Hybrid at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The new A700 Audi Hybrid is expected to feature an output of output of 650 to 700 horsepower on a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 Plus engine.
BMW‘s highlights at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show include the 2 BMW i premieres: the pure electric BMW i3 and the plug-in hybrid sports car, the BMW i8. At the heart of the BMW stand there will be a track in the shape of an infinity symbol, on which visitors can take a ride in the BMW i3 and other BMW cars premiering at the event, before the market launch.
At the Frankfurt Show, BMW will show a production version of the plug-in hybrid i8 coupe which is likely to go on sale early 2014. Pricing, also to be announced next month, will be less than $150,000.
Ferrari will present at 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show its latest V8, the Ferrari 458 Speciale, the already exceptional 458 Italia having been upgraded in its powertrain, aerodynamics and vehicle dynamics. The car will feature Ferrari’s most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever (605 cv) with an extraordinary power output of 135 cv/l – the highest ever achieved by a road-going naturally aspirated engine. The 458 Speciale’s weight to power ratio of just 2.13 kg/cv, allows it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds.
The 458 Speciale’s Side Slip angle Control system (SSC) makes it easier to achieve car control on the limit. The SSC’s accurate new algorithm performs instant-to-instant analysis of the car’s side slip, comparing it with the target value and then optimising both torque management and torque distribution between the two wheels.
Land Rover introduces in Frankfurt its latest 2014 Range Rover Evoque. The new nine-speed automatic model is one of the most advanced transmissions ever used on a production car, and it’s likely to be one of the most fuel efficient too. The new Evoque also features an Active Driveline system designed for all-wheel-drive variants. The system improves fuel economy by operating in front-wheel-drive mode during steady-state driving at speeds above 22 mph and automatically reconnects the rear wheelswhen it senses a loss of traction. The current 240-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is expected to remain unchanged, though matched to the new nine-speed automatic it should prove more efficient.
