New direct flight from Middle East unlikely to boost the luxury markets in Bucharest and Budapest

From January 17th 2011, Qatar Airways is introducing a direct flight, four times a week, from Budapest (Hungary) to Doha (Qatar) with a stop over in Bucharest (Romania). Despite the apparent benefits to the local luxury markets, the much anticipated direct air route is unlikely to bring wealthy tourists from Qatar or other Middle Eastern countries to the two Eastern European capital cities. The new flight will most likely serve the considerable number of Eastern Europeans working in the Middle East as well as long haul passengers connecting in Doha for onwards destinations in Asia.  Emirates is apparently analyzing the feasibility of introducing a similar route from Budapest to Dubai via Bucharest.
