Most anticipated Baselworld 2014 launches
Omega is launching at Baselworld 2014 an ultra limited edition (8 pieces) of a Seamaster Planet Ocean in Platinum with diamond-set ceramic and sapphire. The new Seamaster celebrates the debut of a world premier technology that allows for the setting of diamonds on hard bodies such as ceramic and sapphire.
The complex and delicate process begins with the engraving on a hard body using a special 5-axis laser that ensures the precision and the shape of the cavities. An exclusive 850-platinum Liquidmetal alloy is used to fill the openings and the excess is removed before polishing the piece. Diamonds are then set into the Pt850 Liquidmetal alloy using the traditional diamond-setting technique.
Seamaster Planet Ocean Baselworld 2014 features an 43.50 mm case, the edges of which are fully paved with 69 trapezoidal baguette-cut diamonds; the polished black ceramic bezel is highlighted by twelve trapezoidal baguettes in the GMT scale and a full-cut diamond in the triangle at 24 o’clock. Together with the 31-full-cut-diamond-set Omega logo on the sapphire case back, the new Seamaster Planet Ocean Platinum has 113 diamonds with a combined weight 2.69 carats. The estimated price tag of the new Seamaster Planet Ocean Platinum: US$135,000
Ulysse Nardin will launch at Baselworld 2014 the newest version of its Dual-Time Manufacture featuring an in-house movement based on silicon for both the escapement and hairspring. Caliber UN-334 has a power reserve of 48 hours. The new Dual Time Manufacture comes in 4 different options: the case is made in stainless steel or 18 karat rose gold, and each version has two choices of dials: silver or black.
Hermès launches a brand new line of the Cape Cod Collection which features a redesigned dial and an interchangeable strap, while the case of the Tonneau and Nantucket models is available in Silver – an unusual silver alloy based on a composition exclusive to Hermès and which lastingly preserves the inimitable radiance of the precious metal.
The delicately curved case shape of the Cape Cod models echoes one of the iconic Hermès jewellery creations that is also inspired by the maritime world: the Anchor Chain bracelet. The Cape Cod peninsula dappled with sunlight is pervaded by a distinctive atmosphere,
a unique luminosity that is at once white, dazzling and filled with warmth, like the sun shimmering on silver. Hermès is renewing its ties with this precious metal in its watch creations, turning alchemist by offering its very own silver composition. This new alloy features a larger proportion of silver than the conventional 925 alloy and was especially developed to ensure that silver maintains its characteristic glow over the years
Blancpain launches at Baselworld 2014 the new Villeret, a self-winding three-hand watch with date display, featuring an understated Grand Feu enamel dial. The Grand Feu enamel dial lends a subtle touch to tradition by revealing the tone-on-tone “JB” logo engraved between the numerals IV and V, VII and VIII. This is the secret signature with which enamellists historically initialled their works. The new Villeret 2014 model is powered by the Blancpain in-house Calibre 1335 which has an 8-day power reserve. The sapphire crystal case-back provides an opportunity to admire the delicate interplay of its decorative effects, featuring Côtes de Genève on the movement bridges and a honeycomb pattern on the oscillating weight.
