Milan takes strategic approach to attract more Chinese visitors

Milan Airports Operating Group SEA together with together with the Italy – China Association have signed today a memorandum to transform all Milanese airports into “Chinese Friendly Airports”, with signage in Mandarin, customer service and assistance in Mandarin. Currently, China is connect to Milan by non stop flights operated by Cathay Pacific, Alitalia, Air China, however advanced discussions have been reached with 3 airlines for non stop flights from Milan to China – Hainan, China Southern, China Eastern.

According to data released by SEA, in the past 4 years alone, air traffic between China and Milan has increased by 150 percent – from 269.000 passengers on direct/connecting flights from Milan to China, to  708.000 passengers in 2012. In terms od destinations, Shanghai leads, followed by Hong Kong and Beijing, respectively.
