Michael Kors opens new store in Tokyo’s Ginza

Michael Kors has recently opened its largest Japanese flagship store on Chuo Street in Tokyo’s renowned Ginza district. The store is the first in the world to carry every category offered by the global luxury lifestyle brand.

Additionally, to celebrate the store opening, the brand will launch a special collection of products, including a charm keychain with a Michael Kors Ginza stamp, as well as handbags and small leather goods crafted in a ballet pink and dark camel color-block design for holiday 2015. The products will be available exclusively for the Michael Kors Ginza store opening.

The store, which measures approximately 7,800 square feet, will reflect the new design concept unveiled last year at the Jing’An Kerry Centre in Shanghai, including a shimmering exterior façade inspired by Michael Kors’ signature use of metallics and texture.

On the ground floor, curated presentations of accessories, including handbags and small leather goods, from the Michael Kors Collection and MICHAEL Michael Kors labels will be featured. The lower level will be dedicated to menswear and men’s accessories, making the Ginza flagship the first freestanding Michael Kors store in Asia to offer menswear.

The upper floor showcases women’s ready-to-wear in sophisticated and exclusive rooms designed to complement the Michael Kors Collection and MICHAEL Michael Kors labels. A grand shoe salon featuring footwear from both labels completes the experience.

The interior of the store will reflect the jet set glamour of the brand with white marble flooring and custom white-painted wood fixtures for a sleek and refined effect. Rice paper accents and framed Macassar wood boxes that highlight key products evoke the spare elegance of sophisticated Japanese design. Luxe ultra suede fabrics will also be used throughout the store to enhance the unique and inviting atmosphere.
