MARIONNAUD opens its first store in Romania
International perfumery and cosmetics retailer MARIONNAUD inagurated today its first shop in Romania. The shop which covers a surface of 200 sqm has been opened within the new AFI PALACE COTROCENI MALL, the largest mall in Bucharest, Romania’s capital.
The shop is operated by Ina International, a local company which has been one of the major distributors of fragrances and cosmetics. For more than 10 years, Ina International has been operating its own retail chain throughout Romania under the brands of INA and PRIVILEGE. More than three years ago, Marionnaud purchased a majority stake in Ina International, yet it has opted not to rebrand the existing shops. That is why, Marionnaud has lost ground to SEPHORA which has been expanding aggressively in the past years, becoming the market leader. Marionnaud also enters in direct competition with German chain DOUGLAS.
Originally a French brand, Marionnaud is nowadays owned by Watson, the property of Li Ka Shing, considered one of the richest Chinese in the world. Marionnaus is widely present in Austria, France, Czech Republic, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia and Switzerland. Earlier this year, Marionnaud opened its first shop outside Europe, in Casablanca, Morocco.
