Mackintosh debuts collaboration with Maison Margiela

British luxury brand Mackintosh has now collaborated with Maison Margiela on two exclusive trench coat designs for the men’s s/s 2018 collection. The garments are inspired by the iconic white lab coat worn by the Maison Margiela collective, and the white version is actually the first of its kind on the Mackintosh extensive colour palette. It’s longer than its standard raincoats, and designed to echo the appearance of the blouse blanche of Maison Margiela, the coat also features other Margiela details, including white horn buttons, brushed steel eyelets and the trademark four stitches on the back of the trench coat.

The second design is a direct take on a coat found in the vast Mackintosh archives. it’s tweaked using the décortiqué technique introduced in the s/s 2017 artisanal collection designed by John Galliano. this process functions by peeling off the garments’ layers to reveal their essential frames. the collar and cuffs are worked in the décortiqué technique while the fabric and details remain identical to those of the original design. both garments come in a numbered limited edition
