LVMH to open luxury resort in the Maldives in 2013
Luxury giant Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) will open a resort hotel in the Maldives in 2013, TTG Asia daily reported Wednesday. The resort will consist of 46 luxury villas and the property is currently under construction on the island of Randheli in Noonu Atoll. LVMH’s Hotel Division includes the Cheval Blanc luxury resort in Courchevel and the White 1921, a boutique hotel in St Tropez.
LVMH is scheduled to open its first hotel in Paris, the Cheval Blanc, late 2013, the luxury hotel occupying the former La Samaritaine Department Store. LVMH also announced two new openings in Oman and Egypt – both under third party management agreements with Egypt based developer Orascom. Initially scheduled for 2012, it is unclear when the new properties will start construction, given Orascom’s financial troubles, mostly due to Egypt’s political and economic turmoil of the past 2 years.
