LVMH consider opening luxury hotel in New York

According to the New York Post and other online real estate publications, world’s leading luxury group LVMH is considering opening a luxury hotel in New York.  LVMH already owns the iconic Cheval Blanc luxury hotel in the chic French ski resort of Courchevel which earlier this year received the highest luxury hotel rating ”Palace” distinction, from Frrench Tourism Authority. The Cheval Blanc regulalry hosts events organized by LVMH companies, especially fashion shows – Givenchy, Christian Dior, Fendi etc.

LVMH is considering in New York an L shaped site between the 56th / 57th streets and Park Avenue, we’ve learned. LVMH’s headquarters and the store of its flagship brand Louis Vuitton are also  East 57th Street, on its North side. The new construction project would provide LVMH with a first-class site for its a luxury hotel like Cheval Blanc Hotel and landscape for its brands to showcase. According to real estate experts, the site is best single piece of land in the city.

LVMH Hotel Management already announced other luxury hotel and resort projects in Egypt and Oman. Last month, LVMH was rumoured to be interested in acquiring luxury AMAN RESORTS, which its owner Indian developer DLF put up for sale earlier this year. LVMH Hotels is currently attending as an entity, the 2011 edition of ILTM taking place in Cannes, France.
