Luxury launches at the 2014 edition of Salone del Mobile Milan

World’s largest furniture and interior design fair Salone del Mobile opens its doors in Milan today. Over 300 exhibitors display their latest collections, both furnitire specialists and fashion houses with home collections.

Maserati launches the Grandtour by Zanotta, a luxurious lounge chair made from full-grain, untreated leather, which comes in three color ranges — light grey, fango and dark grey. Designed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, the chair first went on display at the Salone del Mobile design fair in Milan in 2013, but has now been made available for wider purchase. The Maserati Grandtour retails at $9,195.

Bottega Veneta presents at the 2014 Salone del Mobile a set of leather and wooden furniture pieces, featuring its intracciato pattern. The house also presents Sterling silver flatware, distinguished by subtle engraving on the handles that mirror the iconic intrecciato motif, presented in a new brunito finish.

Peugeot Design Lab is set to make its furniture collection debut next week at Milan Design Week, with a sofa made from volcanic rock.The group will use the city’s creative Tortona district to unveil Onyx, a three meter-long seat made of carbon fiber and Volvic volcanic lava stone. It is the first piece from the group’s new made-to-measure interiors concept collection.

Moroso presents Serenissima a collection of new pieces by the likes of Atelier Oï, Ross Lovegrove and Benjamin Hubert, along with a new sofa and table by Tord Boontje. Also will be debuting a living area suite inspired by the streets and canals of Venice. The Serenissima collection’s grid-like frames recall the platforms installed when the city floods during high tides, and its silk upholstery uses a Venetian palette of pinks, algae greens and Aegean blues.

MARNI will unveil an exotic furniture installation as part of Milan Design Week, built around the Salone del Mobile. ‘Animal House’ comprises a series of limited edition pieces which draw inspiration from giraffes, flamingoes and rabbits. The festive designs feature strong color schemes and bold materials such as metal and PVC. The range includes classic chairs, chairs with one-sided armrests, rocking chairs, small benches and tables. Asymmetry is one of the principal themes of the collection.

Molteni & C and Salvatore Ferragamo present at 2014 Salone del Mobile a collaboration collection which includes several armchairs and a cabinet. Tom Dixon will make its debut at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile during the Milan Design Week, where he’ll showcase its new furniture, lighting and accessories under the theme of the CLUB.

Bisazza launches at Salone del Mobile 2014 a pattern mosaic inspired by the iconic colour strips of Italian luxury fashion house of Emilio Pucci. Louis Vuitton unveils at Salone del Mobile 2014 a collaboration with Cassina, with an installation  “Charlotte Perriand une icône de la modernité”, an exhibit of the avantgarde interior designers of the XXth century.
