LOUIS VUITTON increase production in France

Louis Vuitton inauguated last week on Friday, its new production unit in France in the region of Drôme. This new opening marks the 17th international production unit and 12th in France for the French luxury giant.

The new production unit which is situated in the town of Marsaz allows Vuitton to increase its overall production capacity by 50%, providing 290 jobs. In an interview to French daily Les Echos, Louis Vuitton CEO Yves Carcelle said ”We need to build a factory in advance to be able to anticipate growth”. The opening of the new production unit puts an end to shorter store opening hours, a measure Vuitton needed to take in order to cope with demand.

The new Vuitton factory in Marsaz provides an improved working environment, with large airy spaces with generous natural light. A very strict recruitment process ensures that the best candidates are chosen. The factory’s manager indicates that only 10% of applications are accepted and that continuous training is ensured, adding that over 80% of the new employees have never used a leather sewing machine before.
