Le Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris launches December 13, ”Fashioning Fashion” an exhibition celebrating two centuries of fashion in Europe from 1700 to 1915. Over 100 pieces of women’s and men’s from France, Italy and the U.K. reveal the history of the costume and its evolution. The exhibition is curated by LACMA ( Los Angeles County Museum of Art) which has recently acquired the historical pieces from famed collectors Martin Kamer and Wolfgang Ruf. Presented in a chronological order, the exhibition traces each important development of the costume design, including accessories and decorative elements, leading up to the creation of pret-a-porter, with the arrival of fashion designer Paul Poiret.
The ”Fashioning Fashion” exhibition runs from December 13, 2012 to April 14, 2013.
