KEMPINSKI to open luxury hotel in Venice, Italy

Kempinski is speeding up development in Italy, one of the major markets in Europe where it has been operating just one property in a resort town in Sicily. Kempinski has signed an agreement to manage a 150 room luxury property in Venice, on the island of Murano, in the area called Rio dei Vetrai, due to open early 2014.

The new Kempinski project will cover a surface of 13.000 sqm and the investment is estimated at 80 million euros. The developers of the project are: Serenissima Real Estate and Gruppo Palladium. Antonio Citterio & Partners will be in charge with the architecture and interior design of the new Kempinski Venice.

Kempinski which is owned by the Thai Royal Family is eyeing developments in other Italian destinations, especially Milan, Rome, Lake Garda and Sardinia.
