Houston, the latest major luxury shopping destination in the U.S.

River Oaks District on Houston’s Westheimer, developed by OliverMcMillan, the California real estate company, has announced eight more luxury tenants that will open later this year. Van Cleef Arpels, Stella McCartney and Vilebrequin will join previously confirmed openings by Dior, Cartier, Hermès, Tom Ford, Chopard, Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana. The complex will feature several restaurants as well as an iPic movie complex and an Equinox gym.

The River Oaks District development will have 252,000 square feet of shops, restaurants, cafes and a cinema, along with 92,000 square feet of office space and 279 residential units when it opens.

Houston’s other luxury destination, The Galleria (Simon Property Group) has recently announced the addition of new luxury stores  such as La Perla, Christian Louboutin, Céline, with plans for more than 30 additional boutiques leading to a new Saks Fifth Avenue store currently under construction. The Galleria is already home to Chanel, Tiffany & Co., Saint Laurent, Prada, Miu Miu, Bottega Veneta, Salvatore Ferragamo and Fendi.
