HILTON opens in Sibiu with crisis rates
Palace Resort Hotel in Sibiu has become HILTON SIBIU this weekend, joining the Hilton international family of hotels. Sibiu is a mid size town 400 km from the capital of Bucharest and is situated in the heart of Transylvani. In 2007, Sibiu has gained international reputation being the European culture capital. Unfortunately, the hotel opens amid the current crisis, which justifies the EUR 59 pe single per night (weekdays). The hotel is likely to attract mostly corporate clients, considering major foreign investments in the region. Tourism traffic has halved since Sibiu is no longer capital of culture. It remains to be seen how local and national tourism authorities will be able to keep up the attraction of the town. This is vital to the new Hilton Sibiu which relies on tourism at least partially for its state of the art SPA.
