The Guerrand-Hermes families which control luxury maison Hermes announced the acquisition through private capital of a 45% stake in luxury Parisian jeweller Arthus Bertrand. Founded in 1803, Arthus Bertrand has remained independent, its 2011 turnover reaching 45 million euros, with 2 stores in Paris and other 3 stores in France. One of the unique line of products of the maison is medals and decorations.

Hermes will be seeking to acquire a majority stake and bring in-house the valuable craftsmanship and heritage of the jewellery brand. Apart from leather accessories and apparel, Hermes has been producing fragrances and watches. Hermes’ high jewellery collections have remained limited, so far.
