Hédiard files for bankruptcy
French gourmet house of Hédiard owned by Russian family Pougatchev filed for bankruptcy procedure on Monday. The company which has been registering losses for the past 6 years will be placed until bankruptcy procedure while the state authorities will name an administrator and seek for a buyer. Hédiard reported last year a turnover of 17 million euros. Unlike its direct competitor Fauchon which expanded fast internationally through franchising, Hédiard has had a slower pace.
Ferdinand Hédiard founded the Hédiard house in 1832 as a gourmet specialist in fine foods, groceries, wines, sweets etc. In 1880 the company opened its current flagship store at 12, Place de la Madeleine in Paris.
