Harvey Nichols opens in Baku, Azerbaijan
The new Harvey Nichols store in Baku is located within the Globus Plaza shopping mall and covers an area of 110,000 sq ft on 7 floors. Designed by London consultancy Four IV, the store interior features curves and circles as its leitmotif with a spectacular beauty hall featuring a series of illuminated suspended circles and high gloss marble floor. As is to be expected, the store as a whole feature a no hold barred palette of luxury materials.
In opening a new store, Harvey Nichols has created jobs for more than 500 people and is another example of the manner in which the former Soviet republics are emerging from relative poverty. Azerbaijan was considered to have the world’s second fastest growing economy between 2000 and 2010 and the number of affluent shoppers quadrupled, according to The Economist.
Outside the UK, Harvey Nichols operates in Turkey, China, Hong Kong, UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
