Gucci to expand in South America through franchising

While its direct competitors Louis Vuitton, Prada and Salvatore Ferragamo have been opening directly operated stores, hence confirming the potential of South American markets, Italian luxury house of Gucci is pursuing mono-brand expansion of stores through franchising in the majority of South American markets.

Gucci is currently only present in Brazil (4 mono-brand boutiques, of which only one street level) compared to Louis Vuitton which is present in Chile (1), Brazil (5 stores), Colombia (1), Argentina (1);  Salvatore Ferragamo has 8 stores in Brazil, 3 stores in Argentina,  and one store in each of the following countries: Colombia, Chile, Venezuela and Peru.
