GUCCI launches fine dining restaurant

Luxury labels are accustomed to tempting fashionistas, and now they’re stretching from haute couture to haute cuisine. Gucci opened earlier this week a 50-seat restaurant, Gucci Osteria, in Florence on Tuesday where three-Michelin-star chef Massimo Bottura will serve up high-end dishes.

Other luxury fashion brands which operate fine dining include Giorgio Armani with two fine dining restaurant at its hotels in Dubai and Milan, Dolce & Gabbana which operates the Dolce & Gabbana Gold Restaurant and Dolce & Gabbana Martini Bistrot in Milan and Ralph Lauren with Ralph’s Restaurant in Paris. Roberto Cavalli operates an international chain of Caffes in cities such as Dubai, Jeddah, Delhi etc.

LVMH announced late last year it would open a second branch of its gourmet grocer La Grande Epicerie in Paris, days before Tiffany’s & Co opened its Blue Box Cafe in New York. Prada owns Pasticceria Marchesi and LVMH owns the COVA Pasticceria, both with a strong international presence. Dior operates a luxury Dior Cafe in Seoul at its flagship store, operated in partnership with patissier Pierre Herme.
