Gucci and Louis Vuitton name new heads in Russia and India
Two Italians are now at the helm of Gucci and Louis Vuitton in probably two of the most challenging emerging luxury markets worldwide. After 8 years at Gucci, Marko Jovanovic took over as Country Manager India last month (based in Mumbai), while Marco Vigano has recently joined Gucci (Kering) as President Russia, based in Moscow.
Marco Vigano’s will oversee the development of Gucci in Russia and CIS, as the brand prepares for direct operations, a move already taken by Chanel, Prada and Hermes more than 2 years ago. Marco Vigano joins Gucci from Louis Vuitton, where he held the position of General Manager Russia & Ukraine. Edouard Faure replaced Marco Vigano in July 2012, taking over as General Manager Eastern Europe at Louis Vuitton.
The departure / retirement of Yves Carcelle, President of Louis Vuitton last year, considered one of the most influential executives within the entire LVMH Group, will likely to trigger more changes at the management of Vuitton worldwide. After the confusion nomination of Jordi Constans the ex-Danone executive last year, who resigned after less than 2 months as CEO of Louis Vuitton (apparently for medical reasons), Michael Burke was rushed to take over as the CEO of Vuitton in December last year, arriving from Bulgari - LVMH’s latest acquisition (position he only held 3 months).
