Menuhin Festival, Gstaad

Over half a century of tradition, the Menuhin Festival takes place every year in Gstaad and nearby Saanen. The 2014 edition: 17 July – 6 September. Gstaad Chamber Music Festival focuses on outstanding artists (Joshua Bell, Sabine Meyer, Alfred Brendel, Andras Schiff, Hélène Grimaud), who invite their musical friends and partners to Gstaad “to make music in a relaxed atmosphere”. (citation from Yehudi Menuhin)

The Symphony Orchestra Concerts in the Festival Tent have brought symphonic brilliance back to Gstaad, including through close partnerships with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra. The series “Today’s Music promotes encounters between various music styles and cultures in the spirit of Yehudi Menuhin’s pivotal musical experiences, often surprising and unexpected. This cycle has earned widespread recognition with artists such as Bobby McFerrin, Nigel Kennedy or Swiss jazz legend George Gruntz since the 2002 edition.

The Bar-Reataurant 16 lies in the picturesque Mittelgässli 16 in the historic village of Saanen. Gastronomy and art blend into one in the former bell foundy, which dates back to the 18th century. Bären Gsteig

The village of Gsteig near Gstaad is situated in the western corner of the State of Bern on the foot of the two passes Col de Pillon and Sanetsch. The hotel-restaurant Bären (the bear) is the meeting point of the locals as well as an international clientele from Gstaad, appreciating the fine cuisine as well as the cosy and typical atmosphere of the establishment. The Bären has several restaurants and dining rooms, all wonderfully decorated and old wood work ceilings as well as 7 simple guest rooms. As famous painting shows the Bären with the cute little church of Gsteig. Constructed in the typical regional style in 1756, is beautifully decorated facade remains unchange; the house is under protection.
