GIVENCHY’s brilliant designer revives sales and unveils innovative campaigns
Since taking over the creative direction of French legendary luxury fashion brand GIVENCHY in 2005, Italian designer Riccardo Tisci has revived the brand both artistically and financially. On his arrival at Givenchy, the maison has only 5 haute couture clients and today there are over 30.
His talent has shined through not only through his impressive haute couture collections but also through cutting edge advertising campaigns, experimenting constantly. Givenchy’s former CEO Marco Gobetti (currently at Celine) said about Tisci: ”He has an elegance that is very modern, very contemporary and romantic at the same time”. Recently, Tisci included in the Fall Winter 2010 Givenchy ads a transgender model, who used to be his assistant, news making headlines internationally.
Givenchy is owned by French luxury giant LVMH and has been, along with Louis Vuitton one of the few brands of the group to defy the current financial crisis. Other LVMH brands such as Celine or Kenzo which had been underperforming even before the crisis have been hard hit and this has lead to rumours that the group might spin off Kenzo.
