Four Seasons is set to inaugurate in May its first hotel in Russia, in the city of Sankt Peterrsburg, second largest after Moscow. The Four Seasons St Petersburg which will feature 177 luxury guest rooms, including 26 suites, is situated within a beautifully restored 19th century Russian royal palace, its entry guarded by two marble lions. The palace was Built in 1820 as the residence of Princess Lobanova-Rostovskaya
The hotel is situated in the heart of St Petersburg’s Admiralteysky district – just two blocks from the Hermitage Museum, very close to Nevsky Prospekt, Mariinsky Theatre and walking distance to the city’s luxury shopping area.
The new Four Seasons St Petersburg offers impressive views of Saint Isaac’s Cathedral, Alexandrovksy Garden and the landmark Admiralty. Two signature St. Petersburg restaurants (one Asian fusion, one contemporary), a glass enclosed wintergarden restaurant in the courtyard of the hotel and the Library Bar with a working fire place will be the key Food & Beverage features of the new hotel. The hotel will feature a sumptuous four-level SPA within original courtyard, including Russian-style saunas, relaxation pool under a sunlit dome.
The hotel’s interiors have been designed by Anderson Miller, while most of public spaces have been carefully restored and converted by Reardon Smith Architects . With its elegant neo-classical architectural detailing, the magnificent edifice draws back to the time when the Russian aristocracy lived on a grand scale. Two of the three existing open-air courtyards will be enclosed to create expansive ground floor public areas, a large ballroom and a spacious spa and fitness facility .
The General Manager of the Four Seasons St Petersburg is Martin Rhomberg, one of the most experienced managers within Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts with a long tenure within the group. His career with Four Seasons started in 2000, when he was appointed Director of F&B at the Four Seasons Hotel Caracas. After Caracas, Rhomberg moved on to become the Resort Manager at Punta Mita, Mexico and in Costa Rica, his most recent position being General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus. An Austrian national and a graduate from the Viennese College for Tourism Modul.
Four Seasons St Petersburg will likely benefit from 50% leisure travel and 50% corporate travel. Although predominantly known as a leisure destination, several major Russian corporations have recently moved their headquarters to St Petersburg. The direct luxury hotel competitors to the Four Seasons St Petersburg are: Rocco Forte’s Astoria Hotel and Orient Express’ Grand Hotel Europe.
