Founder of DIESEL to create ”casual pole”

Renzo Rosso, founder and owner of DIESEL has recently spoken about his group’s plans to expand and create a ”casual pole” rather than a pure luxury one, which all have expected. Since taking over Martin Margiella, Viktor & Rolf, Rosso has secured long term licencing agreements with DSquared and Just Cavalli, the difussion line of Roberto Cavalli. He advised on his intentions to further develop the Just Cavalli line, which will be more contemporary.

His group strategy will also focus on further developing the premium line DIESEL BLACK and extend its collaboration with leading Italian e-commerce company YOOX, which he is also a shareholder of. Asked in a recent interview about his views on the sale of Bulgari to LVMH, he said he could not agree more with fellow Giorgio Armani who blamed the overall ”country system” for failing to create a powerful luxury strategic business sector, also blaming governments and politicians. Rosso also said a tie up to Giorgio Armani would be a dream come true, but has not had any discussions with Mr Armani on this possibility, despite the obvious synergies.
