First luxury store opens in Pyongyang, North Korea

In a surprise move the dictorial communist regime of North Korea has become more permissive in regards to the import of certain categories of foreign goods. North Korea’s first luxury store, a fashion and accessories multi-brand store opened in the capital city of Pyongyang last week. The brand mix includes brands such as Chanel and Dolce Gabbana.

Despite the poverty stricken population, it is widely known elite member of the Communist Party, close to the leader  Kim Jong-il are reported to be lavish spenders in luxury stores and hotels in neighbouring China.
