Erdem M. to replace Elbaz at Lanvin?
Fashion Times reports that Lanvin is reportedly “in talks” with Erdem Moralioglu’s management company about taking on the esteemed fashion role, and the storied Paris-based brand is allegedly courting the designer behind his namesake label.
Currently, Chemena Kamali and Lucio Finale are leading a team of designers to complete Lanvin’s upcoming fall/winter 2016 collection.
Who is Erdem Moralioglu? Erdem Moralioglu was born in Montreal and earned a B.A. in fashion from Ryerson University in Toronto and then worked as an intern for Vivienne Westwood. Erdem moved to London in 2000 to study fashion at the Royal College of Art.Upon receiving his master’s degree in 2003, he proceeded to go onto closing the 2003 RCA show with his graduate collection. He then moved to New York where he worked alongside Diane von Furstenberg before relocating back to London to launch his own label in 2005, ERDEM. His namesake brand is sold in over 170 of the most exclusive retailers, including Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Lane Crawford, Colette, Dover Street Market, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. After launching an e-commerce store in 2014, the brand opened its debut flagship store in London’s Mayfair last year.
Elbaz’s shock departure from Lanvin came following disagreements between the designer, owner Shaw-Lan Wang and CEO Michèle Huiban.
“At this time of my departure from Lanvin on the decision of the company’s majority shareholder, I wish to express my gratitude and warm thoughts to all those who have worked with me passionately on the revival of Lanvin over the last 14 years,” Elbaz wrote in a statement on following his departure
