Dolce Gabbana opens new flagship store in Milan
Italian luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbanainaugurated yesterday a new flagship store in Milan on Corso Venezia, on the former location of its D&G store. The new Dolce & Gabbana flagship covers a surface of 900 sqm on two floors and features the entire universe of products. The ground floor is dedicated to women’s and men’s accessories as well as a corner dedicated to Dolce & Gabbana’s make up line.
The new flagship store features a unique interior design concept, especially conceived for Milan. The art nouveau facade is reflected in the design of the interior: on the handrail of the staircase leading to the first floor there are leaves and branches wrought iron. The ground floor of the boutique is characterized by the presence of old wooden floors partly restored, partly rebuilt. The woods used are chestnut, white maple, walnut, cherry, oak, rosewood and date back to about 150 years ago, salvaged from old oak beams that are part of the supporting structures of the roofs of houses in Milan and the Veneto region. The stairs leading to the first floor are built with slabs piece, created by reusing the trunks of oak from stakes that anchor the gondolas of the Venetian lagoon. Along the white walls are mirrors and panels damask burgundy.
The furniture inside the shop, wardrobes, tables, shelves, chairs and armchairs, are original ’20s and ’30s and were recovered from second-hand and antique Lombard. The chest area was built by reusing a piece of an old bar of the early ’900. Inside the boutique there are references to Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s love for Sicily, such as vases and ceramic heads from Caltagirone.
