de Grisogono opens new boutique in London

Designed by David Collins Studio the new de Grisogono boutique on New Bond Street covers 85-square-meters and is divided into three separate rooms based on a traditional Italian house, in keeping with the brand´s Florentine heritage.

The main “Corte” area features amethyst-toned carpets and shaved shagreen panels echoing de Grisogono watch straps. “We wanted to reflect the aesthetic constants of the jewellery – the abstract forms, the colours, volumes, curves and movement,” explains David Collins Studio design director Lewis Taylor. “But it’s done in a subtle way – it needed to look like an unconscious relationship rather than specifically copying the jewellery.”

So a vestibule, which leads customers towards the “Grand Sala” informal selling area, has a polished marble floor with a pear-drop pattern based on briolette-cut stones, while the dark wood veneer walls of the “Stanza del Tempo”, which showcases the brand’s timepieces, were inspired by the timber pattern of its watch faces. Fixtures and furniture were custom-designed by the studio – with a few antique additions – and also take reference from the jewels, with kinked metalwork, scalloped details and jewel-coloured upholstery.
