Coach, Montblanc and Hugo Boss open mono-brand spaces at Bogota Airport
The inauguration, last week, of the new international terminal at Bogota El Dorado Airport, Colombia’s main air hub and one of the busiest airports in South America, included a tax free surface pf over 14.000 sqm. Besides the grand open spaces dedicated fragrances, cosmetics and watches, several international luxury brands such as Montblanc, Hugo Boss and Coach are opening mono-brand spaces by the end of this month.
The new 84,000 sqm terminal will initially serve as El Dorado’s new international terminal before the addition of two new concourses allows it to handle domestic traffic. Once complete, the new El Dorado will be capable of accommodating 16 million passengers per year and concessionaire, Opain will have spent over US$ 1.1 billion upgrading its passenger facilities. Opain is a consortium made up of Zurich Airport and several local entities.
Also last week, Avianca, Colombia’s national air carrier announced it had acquired Portugal’s national carrier TAP, a member of Star Alliance too. The purchase of TAP provides Avianca with unprecedented access to European airport hubs and routes, as well as access to strategic Latin American traffic, especially to neighbouring Brazil.
