CHANEL to open new flagship store in Boston, USA
French luxury maison Chanel is set to open a new flagship store on Boston’s fashionable Newbury Street, close its current shop at the Taj Hotel, which will be shut down prior to opening its new location.
The 10,000-square-foot House of Chanel will be located on the first block of Newbury Street as part of a new luxury residence building called No. 6 Newbury. The store which will be designed by Peter Marino will feature all Chanel product lines including ready to wear, accessories, leatherwear, high jewellery and watches.
The residential area of the building will include six condominiums ranging in size from 3,000 to 4,500 square feet, with floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides. To make way for No. 6 Newbury, demolition work has begun on an existing garage — originally built to serve the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, which is now the Taj Hotel — at the corner of Newbury and Arlington Streets. Residents are expected to move into the building by next February and Chanel is scheduled to open about six months later.
