Chanel to open a space dedicated to its Métiers d’Art in Paris, 2020

Chanel has decided to dedicate a space to the many different expert artisans that are showcased every year in its Métiers d’Art show, from plumassiers to jewellers and gold and silversmiths. Architect Rudy Ricciotti has been charged with designing this gem in the North of Paris which is set to open in 2020. The space will open near the Porte d’Aubervilliers in Paris.

The 25,000 sqm space will consist of five levels featuring design and production ateliers as well as vast gardens. “This project’s mission is based on a narration of the relationship between technical and knowledgeable complexity of hand crafts, their remarkable virtuosity when applied to design and beauty, and the extremely technological character of my creations. It’s a shared celebration of complexity – the building itself will be extremely complex in its design – and its relationship with expertise.”
