Chanel to launch e-commerce in 2016
Chanel has recently announced that it will launch e-commerce as early as 2016. Three of the Métiers d’Art companies, owned by Chanel under its Paraffection subsidiary would also launch eCommerce at the end of this year.
Individual online stores are being created for glove-maker Causse, milliner Maison Michel and cashmere house Barrie Knitwear. “Because we don’t have a lot of point of sales, we will be able to offer the collections, the range of product, to people who are interested by these product categories,” Bruno Pavlovsky, President Chanel Fashion was quoted as saying by WWD. “So step by step, we are doing that with links to brick-and-mortars.” Pavlovsky said that “we are testing the approach,” but noted that it is “much too early” to discuss specifics.
