CARTIER initiates social reponsibility strategy
CARTIER has recently annonced ”ethical gold” becomes part of the company’s core business strategy. The French jeweller has signed an agreement with Goldlake Group which will supply gold produced in Honduras by observing rules to minimize the impact of production on the environment. Goldlake also prides the international standard working conditions it provides to its employees.
Cartier’s pledge comes amid the unfolding international crisis which has surfaced the idea of sustainability in luxury. The French brand’s ”ethical gold” strategy is set to create a turning point for a luxury industry sector which has long been blamed for ignoring working conditions and the impact on environment at gold and diamond minds.
