BRIONI end women’s wear line

Italian luxury fashion house BRIONI, known for its menswear announced this week it has ended its women’s wear line, the Fall Winter collection currently in stores being the last one. The women’s fashion show scheduled for 25th September during Milan Fashion Week has been cancelled. Brioni’s women’s line has had a rocky history since launch 7 years ago, underperforming in most markets. Alessandro Dell’Acqua was named Creative Director for Brioni’s women line in May 2010.

The company’s decision to end its women’s line is motivated by its need to concentrate on its core business which is menswear and accessories. PPR / Gucci Group started negociating a buy out of Brioni in July, however, a deal is yet to be reached.
